the one where I actually have a marginal amount of free time now

Well, The Vagina Monologues are officially over, and it's a bittersweet ending.  Our cast performed two marvelous shows, and we were able to raise funds and awareness to stop violence against women.  Our cast overcame many obstacles, and although there was a large amount of stress, I'm extremely proud of all of them.

I'm still pretty busy with homework (what else is new?).  I thought I'd have more time after V-Day was over, but I forgot that I have all these group projects and stuff to do.  So that's fun.  I'm enjoying most of my classes.  I love my small group communication class and my intercultural class, and my leadership class isn't so bad either.  I don't care so much for communication in the workplace or rhetorical theory.

Good news of the day!  I have a nephew now!  Brady Thomas was born on February 12th.  He's adorable.  Now I have one niece and one nephew...love being an aunt!

I got to go home last weekend on Valentine's Day to see Mr. Brady, and I also got to see Sam.  We watched some Olympics!!  (Which, if you know me, you know I am OBSESSED with the olympics!)  It was nice to see the family and some friends and catch up a little bit.  After that, Brian and I went back home and had dinner with Ron, Lynn, and Becky.  I got some wonderful presents from my wonderful boyfriend.  :)

Movie recommendation of the day:  Inglourious Basterds.  Got to watch it with Sam, Cookie, and Mike Rineck when I was home a few weekends ago.  Amazing movie, I love Tarantino's work.

Speaking of movies, I am very excited for the new Alice in Wonderland movie that is coming out (because I'm obsessed with Tim Burton films, and Johnny Depp, and especially Johnny Depp in Tim Burton films).  Also I just plain love Alice in Wonderland.  Brian and I got to see a 3D preview when we went to see Avatar, and it looked awesome!

I'm also super excited for TOY STORY 3!!!  Yeah, I'm a kid at heart.  Brian bought me a Buzz and Woody awhile back, and I just love them.  Toy Story is one of my all time favorite movies, my favorite Disney/Pixar film, and I'm super excited for the new one to come out!

Not much else is new...my dad came down a few weeks ago for his birthday, and it was nice to go out to lunch and spend some time with him.  We got to catch up a bit, and we talked about watching the new season of Survivor which started last week, it's Heroes vs. Villans.  They brought back some of our favorite people from when we used to watch it together (my dad's watched every season, but I only watched through season 8.  They're currently on season 20).  Last week's episode was good.  I'm gonna have to get to know many of the characters, but a few of my absolute favorites are on there!

I suppose that's about it!  It's Thursday, which means dinner and The Office with Brian tonight!  <3

the one where I don't know how I'm going to get everything done... :(

Well this semester came in with a bang.  I'm taking 15 credits, which technically isn't much since I know people who take 18 credits or sometimes even more.  But I'm seriously having trouble keeping my head afloat.  (Already!  And it's only the 2nd week!)  I have group projects for almost every class that I'm trying to coordinate, TONS of reading...more than I've ever had to do in my life, plus V-Day stuff and I have to remember to apply for graduation and talk to an adviser for my minor and ahhhh just so much to do!  I don't even know how I found time to write this blog.  On Monday we had the day off for MLK day, and I seriously did homework for 8 hours.  Yesterday and today, I seriously did homework every minute I wasn't in class or at V-Day rehearsal.  Right now I'm just waiting for a professor to clarify an assignment, then I'll have to finish that up tomorrow.

Sad news of the day:  I recently found out that one of my best friends, Sam, has testicular cancer.  He found out last Friday and had an operation Saturday morning.  I'm going home to spend some time with him this weekend.  His prognosis is good, I think they caught it early enough, but he might have to go through radiation or chemo as a precaution.

Good news of the day:  The Vikings won on Sunday!  They'll play the Saints this Sunday, and if they win they'll play in the Superbowl.  It should be a good game, I'm very excited!

Movie recommendation of the day:  AVATAR.  Brian and I went to see it on Friday with the free movie tickets Lynn gave us for Christmas.  I was totally against seeing it and I really didn't think I would like it at all, but I LOVED IT!  Seriously, amazing.  I can't even stress enough how awesome it was.  You will love it!

Other than classes and V-Day rehearsals, not much else is new.  Brian and I get to each lunch together quite a bit now, which is very nice.  Best boyfriend ever.  Last night I said I was starting to feel a cold coming on, so he drove me to V-Day rehearsal, then went to get me some Zicam, and surprised me with cheesecake after rehearsal.  And this morning, he got me Mcdonald's breakfast.  See?  Best boyfriend ever.

Someone remind me to apply for graduation.  Kay thanks.

Recap of Christmas and New Year's!

Wow so I realized my last post was December 15th...I have a lot to catch up on!

Finals:  My finals went really well!  I was nervous about the huge paper I had to write for my theory class, but I guess I did well on it, because I got an A in the class (something I've been told is pretty hard to do with this professor).  I really wasn't expecting it because I had gotten B+s on all of our exams.  My grades for the semester were A+, A+, A, A, and B+.  I knew I couldn't achieve a 4.0 because for my ethics class, in order to get an A, you had to write this huge final paper that you had to start halfway through the semester and give weekly updates to the professor about your research and how your paper is coming along.  I knew that if I did the paper, I wouldn't be able to focus as much on my other classes, so I chose to opt out.  Nonetheless, I am still extremely satisfied with my semester grades!

Sad news of the day:  Brian's Grandpa Ozzie went into the hospital a couple weeks before my birthday, in mid-October.  They moved him to a nursing home a couple weeks later, and around Thanksgiving they moved him to hospice care.  A couple days before Christmas, Ozzie stopped breathing and they had to resuscitate him.  Around 4 AM Christmas Eve morning, Ozzie passed away.  It was a very sad time for Brian and his family.  The wake was December 30th and the funeral was December 31st.  Rest in peace, Ozzie.

Christmas celebrations:  My original plan for Christmas was to drive home to the Cities on the 23rd, drive to Siren on the 24th for our annual Christmas celebration with my mom's side of the family, drive back to the Cities that night, and drive back up to Cloud on the 25th to have Christmas with my dad, then go to Brian's mom's.  Then we got news that a huge blizzard was coming in, expecting 10-20 inches of snow.  I didn't want to have to drive through that, or get stuck somewhere, so my mom and I decided it would be best if I just stayed in St. Cloud instead of driving down for the family Christmas.  I was very sad I couldn't see my family, but it actually ended up working quite well.  I'm glad I was able to be there for Brian during that difficult time, and I still had a great Christmas with the Zenzens.  On the 24th we went to Brian's Grandma's house and had dinner with his family, and on Christmas day we went to his mom's.
The blizzard ended up being so bad that my dad couldn't even drive down until the 26th, and even then it still snowed all day and I couldn't get out of Cloud until the 28th.  I went home for the 28th and got to see Aja and my family.  On the 29th, I got to have breakfast with my friend Alyssa, who goes to school out in Philly.  Then I had a small Christmas celebration with my mom, stepdad, sister, brother-in-law, and niece.  I'm glad I got to see them!  That night I went out to Applebee's with some friends, then drove back the next morning for the wake.

Christmas Gifts!: I feel so lucky!  I got great Christmas gifts this year!  My dad gave me some Vikings slippers to wear when I watch the games (go Vikes!), as well as some money to use on a dinner date with Brian.  We ended up using the money when we went out to dinner on New Year's Eve at Applebee's.

My Mom gave me a pajama set from Victoria's Secret, as well as a gift card.  She also got me this awesome new flat iron, with a matching hair dryer!

Becky gave me an adorable scarf from Jessica Simpson's line, as well as some Bath & Body Works products.

Kathy gave me a Victoria's Secret gift card, a jam sampler, a cute brown leather bracelet, and a lovely purple pashmina.

And the grand finale...Brian gave me a lovely cashmere sweater from Victoria' Secret, the new Victoria's Secret perfume (Velvet Amber Blackberry), and the matching lotion,

And this lovely ring and necklace!!!  Me=lucky.

Shopping: As always, with the holiday season, I have done a LOT of shopping lately!  Becky's become my new shopping partner.  I spent my VS giftcards I got.  (VS is having their semi-annual sale!  Great deals!)  and we also hit up Bath and Body Works' semi-annual sale.  I even got some great deals on some shirts at Target!  Now all this snow needs to start melting so I can go swimsuit shopping!

New Year's: I had a lot of fun on New Year's Eve!  Brian and I went out to dinner at Applebee's, and then we headed over to Brian's friend Dan's house.  It wasn't anything to exciting, just people hanging out and talking, but I had a great time!

Football and Celebrating:  For Christmas, I gave Brian Vikings tickets!  We went to the game on the 3rd, and the beat the Giants 44-7.  It was a really fun game to be at!  Our section actually started the Wave throughout the entire Dome.  I would definitely like to go to another game!  I'm very excited for what the playoffs will bring.

The 3rd was also Becky's birthday, so we went out to dinner with the family after we got back from the game.  Happy 26th Becky!

Well I suppose that's about it for now, I'm enjoying my last week of break before classes start again!  Ah, one more thing...my dad brought down my old Nintendo 64 and me and Brian have been absolutely addicted to playing Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros!.  Love N64!
